The House system promotes a positive school culture that focuses on lifting each other up! The House system provides the sense of family that is critical in the school environment. Each student will belong to a House with an assigned name and color. Houses will randomly be selected during our House Ceremony the first week of school. Throughout the year, students will earn points for their House through various positive behaviors. These behaviors may include completed work for the week, being focused and engaged during class time, going above and beyond expectations, frequent participation, positive attitude and effort, organized materials, kind words and actions, good manners, etc. Teachers will have House scoreboards in the classroom to collect and track weekly points. Each week we will hang a banner for the House with the most points. Points will reset each week.
As part of Fun Friday, we will have House meetings. Students will get together with their House members and discuss how they earned points that week. This will be when the House winner of the week is announced as well. We will also reward an individual student from each House on Friday. These students will be recognized for going above and beyond with positive behaviors.
This House system is adapted from the Ron Clark Academy and we are so excited to continue this tradition that was started in third grade last year!
